Take a look at how we revitalized this French drain as part of an effort to keep the nearby basement from flooding.

We dug and cleared out earth around the old pipe, removed it, created a deeper trench and installed a new 4" Perforated PVC.

We placed a 50 ft Heavy-duty Plastic (20 mm) landscaping plastic down between the house and the incoming new pipe to provide further protection against unwanted water flow toward the house.

We also wrapped the new pipe in landscaping fabric to ensure that incoming water is filtered and free of dirt and mud as it enters the new pipe. After installing the new pipe, we added gravel to the trench.

We used a skid steer to move the gravel around. We love using a skid steer for smaller projects because this machinery is light-weight and agile, perfect for maneuvering around smaller spaces.
