Embracing Tranquility: A Homestead Story
Imagine leaving the bustling pace of city life behind to embrace tranquility in the Ozarks. That's exactly what our recent clients did. They are moving from a big city, seeking a quieter, more serene lifestyle. With dreams of a large garden, a modern shed-to-home dwelling, and a peaceful setting, they found the perfect piece of raw, sloped, and wooded land. They contacted us to help with various land clearing projects, essential to starting their homestead.
The journey began with clearing the land to pave the way for their vision.

Clearing for a Dream
Their goals were clear: a large garden and farming area, a leveled spot for a modern shed-to-home build, and a gravel driveway. Additionally, they envisioned a pond to collect rainwater, which would feed into a watering system for their garden.
Strategic Land Clearing
We began by collaborating closely with our clients, plotting out landmarks and creating a detailed map. This strategic planning ensured that we understood exactly which areas required clearing and leveling.
Equipped with a couple of excavators, chainsaws, a wood-chipper to mulch for the garden, and other necessary machinery, we set to work. The process of taking down trees and clearing the land was carefully orchestrated to align with our clients' dreams.

We cleared the garden area. The clients asked for a fairly large area to be cleared and leveled for their garden. A small farm by our standards 😄. The area ended up being about 13,000 square feet.
Next is the pond. The pond is about 7 feet deep. We lined it with red clay to help seal the interior of the pond so that it would hold water better.

We brought in 2 loads of clay. Here's a fun fact. It is extremely difficult to find red clay around here. In this mountainous region, our soil is packed with limestone and rock. So finding clay that is not full of rock, is like finding gold!
Next is the driveway! The driveway is about 350 feet long and it travels behind the pond and garden area to the house pad where they will position their residence.

After 120 tons of crushed limestone (6 loads), we had a beautiful driveway creating a drive-able path to the home. Three hundred and fifty feet down the driveway will sit the residence! Here is what the level house pad is looking like after we tackled it.
